In my last post, I shared my block design, called Metropolis. You can see the version of Metropolis I made for The Splendid Sampler 2 book, as well as a second version I made with the fabrics I'm using to make my quilt.
Kitty Wilkin, of Night Quilter, is one of the featured designers. Kitty's Foundation Paper Pieced block, called Adventure Abounds, is a delightful, airy block design that evokes a calm feeling using elements from nature. Here is my version:
As much as I prefer using a small or subtle print for my backgrounds, I chose to use the ivory solid because I wanted the prints to shine. Another thing I decided to do was to use that pale "X" print at the beginning of the ocean waves; reminiscent of the bubbles and foam that form when waves crash upon the beach.
